Truly a story of love conquering all. Jessy and her husband Jared have been madly in love since they were children and share 4 beautiful children.
We spent months, upon months planning and styling her vow renewal. Both of us being photographers, you know we put a lot of love and detail into this wonderful event. Everything was set. The weather looked great. When we got to the location it was pouring. Lightning. 40MPH gusts of wind. She was crushed. We were crushed. We decided there was no way we're doing this, especially on the beach.
We start driving away when I see a field on the side of the road. I can make this work. We all pulled over. She jumped out of the car and started throwing her dress on. He jumped out and assembled their arch. The field was ankle deep with water. We moved about 50 feet to the left, and Jared took 5 steps into the field and fell into a hole (it was low key sort of funny, haha!) Finally we found a small patch of dry-ish grass to make some magic. The sky appeared to be clearing up but the second we had the arch set up and everyone in place, it started pouring again.
These two, along with their children renewed their vows on the side of the road somewhere in Florida, in the pouring rain.
Sometimes it’s not all about the perfect location or venue. The perfect bouquet of flowers. The perfect hair. At the end of the day you know you’re truly and deeply in love if everything else doesn’t matter to you as long as you get to hold the hands of the person you’ve chosen and confess your love to them - even if it’s on the side of the road.
